How do I reserve my regalia?
Before graduation, graduates will receive an information package from the Ceremonies and Special Events Office. You will be instructed to fill out the Regalia Reservation form enclosed in the package and send or bring the form to the UVic Bookstore. Method of payment must be included with the form. Regalia must be reserved and paid for prior to convocation.
How do I pay for my regalia?
Cheques, cash, credit cards, debit card and money orders accepted
How much does it cost?
Bachelor's Regalia Rental ($15.00) + Deposit ($15.00) = $30.00 Total
Master's Regalia Rental ($15.00) + Deposit ($15.00) = $30.00 Total
Doctoral Regalia Rental ($35.00) + Deposit ($35.00) = $70.00 Total
Diploma/Certificate Hat and Gown Rental * ($10.00) + Deposit ($10.00) = $20.00 Total
PhD Hat or Hood only Rental ($10.00) + Deposit ($10.00) = $20.00 Total
PhD Gown only Rental ($15.00) + Deposit ($15.00) = $30.00 Total
How do I determine my size?
Gown sizes are determined by your height.
Cap sizes are determined by your head measurement. Measure the circumference of your head with a tape measure, at temple height in inches.
Where do I pick-up my regalia?
Please go to the Senate Chambers, Room A180 in the Unversity Centre located by the Records & Admissions Office.
Will I need identification to pick-up my regalia?
Please bring the returned copy of your regalia reservation form with you to collect your regalia. Someone may do this for you by presenting your reservation receipt. Please retain this same receipt for deposit refund. If you forget your receipt, you will be provided with an alternate receipt upon presentation of proper identification and subject to payment verification.
How will I receive my deposit refund?
When you return your regalia immediately following your ceremony you will receive a cash deposit refund. Please return the receipt with your regalia. If you do not have the required receipt you must sign for your refund. All deposit refunds will be cash only.
What if I return my regalia late?
There will be a $1.00 per item per day late fee deducted from your original deposit for late regalia. If necessary an additional charge will be levied if the deposit amount is depleted.
Can I purchase regalia?
Yes. Please contact the Bookstore by e-mail regalia@uvic.ca or telephone (250)721-8309. Academic regalia is made to order from our supplier in eastern Canada. Please allow 6-8 weeks for delivery.
Can I rent regalia for photographs if I am not in the ceremony?
Yes. Academic regalia for individual rentals can be arranged by email regalia@uvic.ca or by calling the Bookstore (250)721-8309. A daily rental fee ($15.00 for undergraduate and masters, $35.00 for doctoral regalia), deposit and postage for out-of-town reservations will apply. The shipping charges will vary depending on where you live and the method of shipping. Visa, MasterCard and American Express are accepted for out-of-town telephone reservations. We require 72 hours notice to arrange regalia pick-up and 2 weeks notice for delivery. Please note: we are unable to provide regalia for individual rentals during the months of June and November as regalia inventory is reserved for all graduation ceremonies during these times.
Can non-UVic students rent regalia?
Yes. We do our best to accommodate regalia rentals for several regional schools and colleges. Please make arrangements by calling the Bookstore at (250)721-8309 well in advance of your ceremony. Since May and June are our busiest graduation times it is best to get your order in before May 1st as we have a limited number of caps and gowns available. Our caps and gowns are available in black only. We are unable to provide regalia during the week of UVic graduation ceremonies.
